Open shrubby herb to 2-2½ m high. Stem greenish-brown when old, brownish-green to pale green when young, hairs white. Leaves medium green, beneath paler than above. Leaves just below the inflorescence pale green. Calyx pale green with purple lobes. Corolla pale gentian blue except the upper lip inside which is whitish. Directly after cutting the plant is spreading an unpleasant odour
